Pre-Congress Tours

Three Pre-Congress Tours are available to delegates attending The Joint XXIV IGC and XI IRC congress 2020. Delegates can choose from tours of three, five and nine days in length. Additionally, there are several Mid Congress Tours on Wednesday 28th October which are included with your registration fee.

All Pre-Congress Tours depart from Nairobi Town and end on Friday, October 23rd, two days before the Congress officially opens. The tours are designed to provide delegates with a view of the beautiful landscape, rangelands, wildlands, research programs and history of the Kenyan region. The nine day tour takes you to the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest caldera. The property has global importance for biodiversity conservation due to the presence of globally threatened species, the density of wildlife inhabiting the area, and the annual migration of wildebeest, zebra, gazelles and other animals into the northern plains. The nine day tour also takes you to the Maasai Mara, where you will spend a night in one of Africa's Greatest Wildlife Reserves with an incredible and most spectacular eco-systems and possibly the world's top safari big game viewing ecosystem; Great Wildebeest Migration which is one of the seven wonders of the world. The animals migrate from the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania to the greener pastures of the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya during July through to October (though the dates are not reliably the same every year); You will also get the chance to go on air balloon excursions (optional at own cost - $ 450 dollars) viewing the great wildebeest migration; night out in Maasai Mara.

For the duration of each tour, there will be tour guides who are knowledgeable on Kenyan grassland and rangeland resources, livestock production systems and prairie landscapes. At most stops on the tours, the guides will be joined by other experts from the area being visited. This will ensure that you will receive the most comprehensive information on what you will see on the tour.

The prices of the tours will cover all of the costs of accommodation, transportation, meals, entry fees into parks and museums, and an information booklet.

All three pre-congress tours will depart from a central place in the morning in time for the different tours. At the end of each tour, however, delegates will be dropped at any of their respective hotels.
